The Valley Cultural Center's Monday Morning Concerts for Children place professional musicians in an intimate, educational setting with five hundred K-5th grade children each week throughout the summer. Exposure to music at an early age has been proven to increase academic achievement in math and language and increased comprehension and communication skills. The joy of music and song in our daily lives strikes a personal chord and is invaluable in bridging the gap between peoples of varying cultures and ethnic backgrounds. This interactive program includes a brief history lesson of each musical style; a dynamic performance with selected children invited to the stage; and an opportunity for children to ask questions of the performers. Monday Morning Concerts for Children serves 6,500 young students each season.

	JUNE 16 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre JIM WALKOW Jim Walkow is an author, composer, father, performer, and storyteller who will convey the tale of The Zabbit. The story of Abbott an unusual rabbit who learns many important values from his parents, including, "Keep the love in your heart and always be kind. Create your own luck by using your mind."
	JUNE 23 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre ANDY RAWN Andy Rawn performed Mephistopheles in Gounod’s Faust on a U.S. tour and sang recently in solo concerts with a trio honoring American Songwriters. His beautiful, dramatic voice is in the tradition of Ezio Pinza, the most famous romantic basso of the 20th century.
	JUNE 30 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre THE PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Whether performing at Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center, for British Royalty or the King of Thailand, this music embodies a joyful, timeless spirit.
	JULY 7 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre L.A. PIERCE SYMPHONIC WINDS Since their founding in 1983, the L.A. Winds have become a leading force in southern California’s cultural community. Audiences throughout the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Europe have delighted in the L.A. Winds’ eclectic programs.
	JULY 14 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre DANCE DIMENSION DANCERS Students are empowered to achieve both dance and life goals through community service and mentoring programs. Professional and non-professional dancers present an array of dance styles, such as African, Flamenco, Hoofi ng Jazz, and Djembe Drumming.
	JULY 21 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre TICKET TO RIDE (a tribute to The Beatles) The music of The Beatles lives on from generation to generation. Ticket To Ride performs an incredible rendition of those well-known songs, complete with the familiar outfi ts, amplifi ers, and microphones from the era of Beatlemania.
	JULY 28 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre KIDS OF ROCK THEATRE Uniting the forces of rock n’ roll and musical theater for an experience that brings new meaning to the phrase, "Vocal/Dance Group." 	AUGUST 11 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre SCOTT DETWEILER Detweiler is an American composer and lyricist born and raised in New Orleans. His guitar playing has been compared to B.B. King, Earl King, and Dickie Betts. His vocal soulfulness is often compared to the range of emotion found in the vocal styles of Bobby "Blue" Bland, Aaron Neville, and Elton John.
	AUGUST 18 10:00 A.M. at the Madrid Theatre RAZZLE BAM BOOM Enjoy the music and comedy duo of Mark Beckwitih and Obediah Thomas. A unique combination of music, audience participation, and comedy, Razzle Bam Boom is for audiences of all ages.
