Community Programs, Applications and Submissions

For three generations of San Fernando Valley residents the Valley Cultural Foundation (VCF) has been the focal point of summer entertainment and enrichment. Since 1975 more than 2.8 million people have attended our free community musical and arts programs. More than 160,000 people will attend a VCF event each summer.

Valley Cultural Foundation is one of the largest 501(c)(3) charitable non- profit arts outreach organizations in Southern California. In addition to our arts-related programming, we are actively involved with other non-profit organizations in our common goal of enriching lives and building upon the fabric that bonds a community together.

All of our programs are offered to the community free of charge so that all can enjoy these wonderful events, regardless of their means. These programs bring a great value to our community, but there is also a tremendous cost associated with each event we produce. VCF depends on its partnership with private members, donors, and significant corporate sponsors to make our marvelous programs possible.

We invite you to check out the programs below and submit an application to us.

Emerging ArtistThe Valley Cultural Foundation (VCF) has announced an open call for Emerging Artists to perform their original work as opening acts for the 2019 season of Concerts on the Green. VCF’s goal is to provide up-and-coming artists with a professional, established venue in which to play, promote and refine their talents, while cultivating new talent for other VCF program locations.

The Emerging Artists Showcase will take place each Sunday during the regular concert season of June through August. Bands are selected by VCF’s programming committee and will be matched-up with the genre and/or style of the headliner playing that week. Artists will open the show starting at approximately 5:30 p.m. and play until 6:15 p.m. with the regular – headliner performance beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The Emerging Artist Showcase will also engage the audience by having them vote for their favorite performance of the season via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. At the conclusion of the series, the band with the most fan votes will receive an “Emerging Artist Showcase Care Package”, which includes $1,000 in gear from a local musical retailer. Additionally, the artist with the most votes will headline a concert at VCF’s NoHo Summer Nights Series, North Hollywood in 2020.

“We created The Emerging Artists Showcase to provide local up-and-coming artists with a platform to share their work with the public. It’s an important part of the inclusion conversation happening now in the San Fernando Valley that’s often overlooked… simply giving artists a space to be seen and heard.

Submissions are now closed for 2019. You may still apply to be considered for the 2020 Emerging Artists Showcase.

The Valley Cultural Foundation’s Community Outreach mission is to enrich the community through quality arts activities and programs for youth, seniors, and families in the San Fernando Valley.

Cuts in school arts programs have left our children with little opportunity to experience the joys of creativity and imagination through music, dance, and visual arts. Opportunities for seniors to participate in an affordable arts experience are also few and far between. Thanks to the generous support of individuals and corporations, the Valley Cultural Foundation’s Outreach programs reach thousands of elementary, middle, and high school students; senior citizens; and families each year.
